Frances Mitchell Engel

Tribute
With great sadness, we announce the passing of our dear mother, Frances Mitchell Engel, on March 11, 2026, at the age of 98, at McKinney Place, Oliver, BC. Frances was born on October 6, 1927, to Anne and Michael Jakubec in Streamstown, Alberta.
Frances (Fran) was predeceased by her 1st husband, our father, Boyd Mitchell, her 2nd husband, Howard Engel, and, most recently, her eldest son, Garry Mitchell (Bev). She was also predeceased by her brothers, John Jakubec, Eddie Jakubec, Joe Jakubec and Albert Jakubec.
Frances is survived by her brothers, Orest Jakubec and Gordon Jakubec; her beloved children & spouses, daughters, Karen Landon (Bruce) and Brenda Moreira (Claude); her sons, Ken Mitchell, Rod Mitchell (Carolyn), Randy Mitchell (Patricia) and Greg Mitchell (Pam);
grandchildren, Carli, Aaron, Tara, Boyd, Taylor, Sam and Josh; great-grandchildren, Raisa, Makenzy, Payton, Parker, Hudson, Camden and Liam.
A Celebration of our mother’s life will be held at the Osoyoos United Church on Saturday, April 18th, 2026, at 1:00 PM, followed by a reception in the Church Reception Area.
The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the staff at McKinney Place for their outstanding care of Fran.

My thoughts and prayers are with you all at this difficult time,
I have so many fond memories of Frances over the years. She lived next door to Grandpa. I would go over when I was little and chat her up in the kitchen sitting on her wooden stools. She then met my uncle Howard and they married
And then she was a big part of our family went on many fishing trips with them.And my mom and dad.
I remember spending time with her and Howard at the curling rank in a osoyoo,
s, fun times!!!
I will cherish the memories and she will always be in my heart ❤️
