Francisco Hilario

Tribute
On Sunday February 7th, long time Osoyoos resident Mr. Francisco Hilario passed away peacefully surrounded by his family at the age of 83 years.
Funeral Mass was held on Saturday February 13th at 10:30 a.m. from St. Anne’s Catholic Church in Osoyoos with Fr. Rex Velmonte and Fr. Walter Doherty the celebrants.
Interment followed in the Osoyoos Lakeview cemetery with a reception hosted by the Holy Spirit group held afterwards in the parish hall.
Prayers were recited on Friday evening at 7:00 p.m. from St. Anne’s Church.
Francisco was predeceased by his daughter Filomena, son-in-law Fernando
and grandson Daniel.
He will be lovingly remembered by his devoted wife Ilda, daughter Anna (Joe)
and son Joe (Vera). His grandchildren, Jennifer, (Nelson), Alicia (Derek), Nicky (Trent), Amanda, Matthew and Thomas. Great-grandchildren, Mariah and Bianca as well as his sisters Rosa (John) and Marcelina (Manuel) and brothers Serafim (Elizabeth)
and Arthur (Fernanda)
Francisco was born, raised and married Ilda in Agua de Pau, Sao Miguel, Acores.
He immigrated to Canada in 1960 and settled in Osoyoos. His family followed in 1965.
Francisco loved farming and he lived to work and enjoyed being out on the family orchard driving grandchildren and friends around in the golf cart.
He had a great sense of humour, and infectious laugh and loved to joke.
Francisco had a committed love and generosity for his entire family.
He loved spending time with his family, being at Holy Spirit events and watching wrestling.
A special thanks to all the visits from his friends the past few weeks and all the support the family has received.
Donations gratefully accepted to Hospice or Palliative Care.

It is with greatest sadness that we say Good Bye to our Tio Francisco. One word to describe this man is “Joker” He was always looking for a laugh! Family and Friends were extremly important to him, he loved having people around.
It is hard to believe that just over 3 weeks ago I went and sat with him in the hospital for the afternoon. That afternoon and in the couple of days that proceeded we laughed as he poked fun at my father who had been cooking and cleaning for my mom as she recooped from her surgery. Even though he was not well ~ he still had the ability to make people laugh~
His prescense will be truly missed. His mischievous smile will be remembered for eternity.
I ask god to give you all comfort and peace in knowing that he no longer is suferring, but is where he wanted to be with his daughter Filomena.
