Tribute
On Thursday February 18, 2010, Mr. Frank William Herbst of Oliver left the world gently and peacefully at home with his family by his side at the age of 80 years.
He was predeceased by his parents John & Claudia and sisters Magdalena and Delores.
Frank will be fondly remembered by his loving wife Melody; daughter Subrina (Gord) Monteith, son Dustin Herbst and three granddaughters Saphyre (9), Jocelyn (2) and Madalyn (5 months) all his precious gems; siblings Agnes Heringer, Edward (Janet) Herbst, Aubry Herbst, Charles (Lyla) Herbst and Robert (Charlotte) Herbst. He also leaves behind aunts, uncles; numerous nieces, nephews, godchildren and cousins.
He was born and raised in southern Alberta where he had a mechanic shop, owned a 1000 acre farm overlooking the sweet grass hills of Montana, U.S.A.
Frank and Melody were married on June 30th, 1976 and he was an Oliver resident starting in 1993. Over the years, Frank was self-employed as a farmer, heavy duty/automotive mechanic and he worked for many years at Inkameep Vineyards. He was also a pilot for 42 years from 1958 to 2000 and loved to restore airplanes and tractors. He had the opportunity to showcase his last project in the 2009 Oliver Parade. Frank co-owned the Falls Jade Shop with his wife Melody in Okanagan Falls from 1986 – 1993.
Frank also enjoyed painting like Bob Ross and he was a rock hound always looking to the ground for his next treasure.
A celebration of Frank’s life will be at 11:00 A.M. Saturday February 27, 2010 at the Inkameep Community Hall.

Relation: Uncle
My fondest memory of Uncle Frank will always be of him taking me flying. As a little boy I remember waiting for him to drive past the house to the airplane hanger, and I would take off running following behind him. He always took me up with him, I never remember him leaving me behind……and he never did. All of our thoughts and love are with you now.
