Tribute

On Monday, October 22, 2018, Mr. Franz Hermann Schmidle of Osoyoos passed away peacefully at the South Okanagan General Hospital surrounded by family at the age of 81 years.

He was predeceased by his mother Rosina; father Ernst; brother Eugen and sister Rosa.

Franz will be fondly remembered by his loving family including wife Teresita of 24 years; daughter Marlene (Joe); son Kelly (Susan); sister Elisabeth; grandchildren Rylie, Hailey and Chelsea; niece Candie (Francis); niece Cathy (Owie); nephew Pierro as well as many extended family and friends.

Born in Rheinfelden, Germany on June 24, 1937. At age 23, he immigrated to Canada.

Frank as he is called by friends and family lived by his name and spoke his mind. He loved the outdoors, sitting with friends at campfires, gardening, fishing with friends and loved ones. He was especially proud to use his hands and masonry and building skills to help neighbours and friends in yard work and was passionate about creating crafts and woodworking. Frank also enjoyed cruising, European tours, trips to Mexico, and the Philippines. He was well travelled, by land and air.

Frank served as an altar-boy in Rheinfelden Catholic Church where he grew up.

He worked in the oil and gas industry for oilfield companies and with his hard work and work ethic, he worked his way from foreman to supervisor and became a co-owner and estimator of GMC Contractors in Edmonton, AB. Frank retired and settled with Teresita in Osoyoos in July 2003.

The Schmidle family profoundly appreciate the tender, loving care of the Oncology Department of Penticton General Hospital, South Okanagan General Hospital Palliative Care and treatment team and the Kelowna Cancer Centre.
