Tribute

On June 2nd, 2026, Gary John Trimble of Oliver passed away peacefully with his loving wife, Marion at his side. Also survived by granddaughters, Sara and Jennie Bown, extended family, numerous friends, and dog, Katie.

He was predeceased in 2004 by his daughter, Debbie. She was his delight and he missed her terribly. Gary met and married Marion later in life, managing 40 wonderful years together. Gary lived a well deserved long life and left a legacy of happy memories for many.

Gary and Marion moved to Oliver to retire after his serving 35 years working with the City of Vancouver Electrical Department. Always tinkering, he was known as an inventor and repairman. He delighted in the challenges of making things work better or repairing the many broken objects that came into his workshop.

Old age and a fall from a ladder took its toll on Gary. He was not one to sit around. In his prime, Gary lived an active, happy lifestyle. He was an accomplished pool player and golfer. He was a good mechanic and took pride in maintaining his vehicles. He enjoyed riding backroads on his motorcycle and pushing the limit on his bicycle. In his 60’s, he cycled from Surrey to Kamloops and later, from Oliver to Portland with Marion and the family dog as his co-navigators following in the family car. Many happy summer times were shared with friends and family at Tunkwa Lake.

Gary was always a hit with his, “I’ve got a plan!” He was kind and gentle. Always there with a helping hand. He will be missed and will live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.

A Celebration of Life will take place at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, September 5, 2026, at the Quail’s Nest Art Centre, 5840 Airport St. in Oliver, B.C.
