My thoughts and prayers are with your family. I first met George when he was the BCTF’s WCB Advocate. He was a passionate advocate for injured workers and really inspired me to do more in the area of Health and Safety at work. Thank you, George.

Relation: colleague through union work
I am very sorry to hear of George’s passing .I had the pleasure of working frequently with George on arbitrations and other union matters over the three years preceding his retirement from BCTF last year. He was very skilled in his work and great fun to work with. We shared a passion for running and the outdoors so it was always interesting to hear about his latest running or travel adventure. George was a great story teller and he had a wealth of history to draw on to make a point or just for the fun of it. He had more than a normal dose of common sense and great intuition for seeing clearly through complications to the right answer, and then bringing others along to his point of view. He demonstrated how one could be strong and principled while maintaining respect, civility and a sense of fairness. I have no doubt that in his teaching career he was exactly the sort of teacher we all hope our kids will find. I am very sorry you have lost George far too soon.

Wit, wisdom, wanderlust and willingness. George had it all and he made a difference in all that he did. He will be truly missed but his spirit and influence will live on.

George will always be remembered as a kind, caring man who was so well respected by all who knew him. He was always there to assist others with his dedication, patience, understanding and delightful sense of humour. Such a devastating loss. I am so sorry for your loss. George was always so full of life and devoted so much of his time to help others in his professional life and in his social life. I have many fond memories of good times, laughter and some pretty intense conversations about teaching, leadership and politics. He has more friends than anyone I ever knew because he was such a good kind hearted guy. Love Kelly

I will always remember George for the great times we had diving, hiking, travelling, and working together. You couldn’t find a nicer guy!

Relation: I worked at the BCTF with George
Despite the knowledge of George’s condition, it was still a shock to hear of his early passing. George was a fine man and a highly respected colleague. In his work as in his life he was caring, giving of his time and expertise, and dedicated to teaching and teachers. I am thankful for having had the opportunity to work with him. I will miss his ability to light up a room with his smile, and to always be able to bring a smile to others’ faces. My sincere condolences to George’s family.
