Tribute
Gerald Alexander McDonald
7 January 1916 – 17 May 2010
Died peacefully in his sleep on Monday 17 May 2010.
Gerald was a World War II veteran who joined the federal government after the war providing distinguished service to a number of government agencies culminating in assisting with the introduction of the Canada Pension Plan. Gerald retired to Osoyoos in 1977 to pursue his love of fishing, gardening and travelling. This gentle man who loved to sing was well-liked and respected by all who came to know him. He was a rock to his family. He will be missed by all, particularly those who survive him: Nora, his wife of almost 70 years, his sons, Larry (Elaine), Keith (Cathy), Brock, and Patrick(Leslie), his many grandchildren, great grand children and friends.
At his request, there will be no service. A private family celebration of life will be held at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, donations to the Alzheimer’s Society of BC or the Lung Association of BC are encouraged. Condolences and tributes may be directed to the family by visiting www.nunes-pottinger.com.

Losing a loved one is so difficult at any time and getting to know Gerald when visiting my own mom who had alzheimers gave me a time to get to know Nora and share memories of our loved ones. Mom passed away Christmas day and I just cherish the time I had with her as will you. They were very dear, special people and will always be missed. May God’s comfort be there for you and His peace give you the strength for every coming day. Love, Betty-Jo and Steve Hetherington
