Tribute

 On January 28, 2024, Gertrude Marie Machan (nee Simpson) passed away at the age of 105 years.
Gertrude was born in Lacombe, Alberta to Samuel and Lillian Simpson. She had two older brothers and five years later welcomed a baby sister.
On November 22, 1937, Gertrude married Ronald Reimche and shared his life of ministry for the next thirty-one years in Northern BC and on the Mission Launch, Northern Light on the BC Coast. She lost him to cancer in 1968. Together they cherished three adopted daughters Marlene, Grace, and Rose-Marie.
For the next number of years, she worked with Christian Doctors in preventative medicine at the Health Education Centre in Calgary, Alberta. She then worked as a Bible Instructor for the Alberta Conference of Seventh-day Adventists.
In 1977 she married Ken Machan, a retired C.P. Rail worker, and in 1981 they moved to Osoyoos, BC, just as the roof was being finished on the new Seventh-day Adventist Church. They became chartered members of the church they loved and ministered in.
On August 9, 2015, Gertrude lost Ken after 38 years together.
She will be laid to rest with her husband Ken in the Osoyoos Cemetery.

A memorial service will be held at a later date at the Seventh-day Adventist Church in Osoyoos.
