Gilford Gil Helgeson

Tribute
Gilford Herman Helgeson, born in Saskatoon and raised in Prince Albert.
Passed away peacefully from Parkinson”s Disease at the age of 77 years in Oliver at Sunnybank Centre.
Fondly called Gil by friends and family. A much loved son, husband, father ,grandfather, great-grandfather.
He was predeceased by his parents Gilford and Winifred Helgeson.
Survived by his wife of 52 years Margaret; his sister Betty Ann Perkins (Ronald) of Saskatoon;
his nephews Dale (Dereth) and Brian (Sharon); his sons Gilford (Lana), Ronald (Donna); grandsons Cody, Kallen, Daniel, Billy; granddaughters Erin, Lindsey, Tammie. Lisa; great-granddaughter Jade and
great-grandsons Dylan and Gage.
Gil served in the Canadian Air Force for three years and was an aircraft engineer and pilot. He started his own business AM4 Aviation in 1977 in Salmon Arm and was pleased when son Ron took it over when he retired in 1999.
He enjoyed trips to Tahiti, Hawaii, and winters in Mexico and southern Arizona, and California, also a cross country trip to Newfoundland in our motor home.
Finally settling in Oliver in 2004
He was a long time member of the Salmon Arm Flying Club.
He loved to build and play with his remote controlled boats, and was a skilled wood carver and carpenter.
He will be greatly missed by all.

We are sorry to hear of Gil’s passing and send our condolences. We always remember the flying club parties we had in the basement, particularly the Hallowe’en party when he wore the clown costume and he accidentally kicked Ken, we won’t say where. Take care. We hope you are faring well and are in good health.

We are sorry to hear of Gil’s passing. Our thoughts & prayers to Marg and the family. Larry has many wonderful memories of rc planes & rc boating time spent with Gil. He & Marg always welcomed us when we stopped in for an unexpected visit in Oliver. Marg, he is in a better place now, not battling the Parkinsons any longer. Rest in peace Gil.
