Tribute

Our sister, aunt and great aunt, Gillian Ann Garrish, passed away at the age of 71 after a short illness on February 15, 2026, in the Penticton General Hospital.  Gillian was predeceased by her parents, Elizabeth Nancy and Arthur Ross Garrish and by her brother Michael.  She is survived by brothers John and Timothy, sisters-in-law Susan Garrish and Beth Garrish, by nephews and nieces Christopher Garrish, Matthew Garrish, Valerie Salinas-Garrish, Raelene Schroeder and Naomi Seitz and by eight great-nephews and great-nieces.

Gillian was born and grew up in Oliver but lived most of her life in Penticton. Life was not easy for Gillian, especially in her final years, but she bore her burdens with the same bravery and determination with which she overcame the many challenges that she faced throughout her life.  Gillian did not marry but created her own family of friends to whom she was very loyal, especially her dear and long time friend Eleanor Denys. She was fond of animals, especially cats, and always had one to keep her company.

Gillian will be interred at the Oliver Cemetery on June 6 and anyone wishing to attend the short interment service is welcome to attend.  In lieu of flowers, donations to the SPCA would be appreciated.
