Susan and I would like to send our sincere condolences to all of Gordon’s family and friends and especially to his loving wife Linda. Gordon came into our lives when he hired me to work for him at the Williams like veterinary hospital in 1975. Gordon graduated four years ahead of me, from the Western college of veterinary medicine and meeting him was pure accident but one which changed the course of our lives completely. Within hours of our first meeting we both knew that we were going to be friends or life. I worked for Gordon for a couple of years where he was a hugely positive mentor demonstrating firsthand what it meant to be a professional person in both career and life. He was one of the most intelligent, honest and kindest men I have ever met. The quality of veterinary care which he introduced to Williams Lake in those early days, was significantly better than could be found in 90% of the hospitals in the larger centers down south or anywhere else in Western Canada for that matter, and his contribution to bettering the lives of his friends and neighbors in the cattle industry by patiently introducing the modern concepts of herd health medicine can’t be over estimated! Sadly, after he left Williams Lake we never had a chance to work together as professionals or live close to each other again however we visited often, hunted together and shared our lives as much as possible over long-distance. He remained one of my closest friends and stubbornnest allies in the constant effort to encurage and maintain the quality, honesty and commitment to service in the veterinary proffession in BC. You were loved and admired and now missed by us all. Dave and Susan Kirby

Hi Dalerie, Grant and family
we are so sorry for your loss and send our deepest sympathy. It has been great to have Gordon around as a local Vet and be able to briefly chat about the old days. On one of Gordon’s down days he stated he should have gone into the wine business also. It made me feel better as I had wished many times to have another shot at going into Vet training. He will be missed but now we have Grant to pick on.
Just think of the joy all of you have had by having Gordon in your lives.
warm regards.
