Gordon Zelko
July 16, 1964 - April 15, 2019
Tribute
It is with profound sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Gordon Edward Zelko, youngest child of Tony and Mary Zelko, on Monday, April 15, 2019, at the age of 54.
Predeceased by his loving wife, Kelly Zelko, and niece, Jessica Woudzia (Evan), Gordon is survived by his two daughters, Katrina and Hannah Zelko, parents, Tony and Mary Zelko, sister, Kathy Woudzia (John), sisters-in law, Daria Achurch (Peter), Darcy Kopchia (Coral), Elizabeth Kelly (Saugn), nephews Brandon, John (Amanda), Matthew, Andy, Christopher, Graham, and Brenden, and nieces, Jennifer (Chad), Alex, Jillian, and Sophie; great-nieces, Madison and Sienna-Kelly; mother-in-law Olga Ellerman; the Stukel, Dasovic and Gray families and extended family in Slovenia and the United States. Gord spent his childhood years in Osoyoos and attended Simon Fraser University during his 20’s where he earned his bachelor’s degree in business and economics. He and Kelly lived on the North Shore during the 1990’s where Gord worked in the securities industry as a promotor and broker and enjoyed tremendous success at his profession during these years. He then returned to the South Okanagan, the place his childhood, during his 30’s where he and Kelly raised two beautiful daughters and built a life together on the lake in the very home where he had spent his youth. When Gord’s beloved wife, Kelly, passed away in 2011, Gord fully embraced the responsibility of raising his two beautiful daughters as a single father, and making sure that they had a rich and fulfilling life became his top priority. Gord was a gregarious and outgoing individual, kind and generous with his time, and someone who possessed a razor-sharp wit that could keep everyone in stitches for hours. He enjoyed nothing better than having family and friends gather at ‘the house’ out on the lake for boat-rides, barbeques, water-sports, summer parties and various celebrations where everyone was surrounded by love, joy, and laughter. Gord was also a cancer survivor of 19 years, having been diagnosed with thyroid cancer in 2000. Gord was never one to dwell on the negative or talk about pain and anyone would be hard-pressed to know that he had been stricken by this disease; he would continue to undergo regular evaluations for the rest of his life. Gord’s absolute greatest strength was his unwavering love for family, and his enduring devotion to his parents, daughters, sister, and extended family members will serve as his legacy as we keep his spirit alive in his remembrance in the years to come.
Celebration of Life for Gord will be announced in the near future. In lieu of flowers, a donation to the BC Cancer Society would be appreciated.

I am not sure how I came upon this site – But perhaps the Lord led me to it. I used to be a friend of Gord’s for years when we worked at Richardson Greenshields in Vancouver. HE was always the life of the party and witty and definately kept one in stiitches. I am saddened to hear that he lost his batlle with cancer and my heart sincerely goes out to his children and parents and family. Please accept my sincere condolences and I pray that the Lord comforts you all throughout your grief. God Bless you and God keep you safe in His loving arms. I pray that these Bible Verses bring you comfort:
Matthew 5:4, Psalm 34:18 and Jeremiah 29: 11-13
