Tribute
On Monday November 26, 2012, Mrs. Gracinda Mendes Batista of Osoyoos passed away peacefully at Mariposa Gardens at the age of 90 years.
She was predeceased by her parents; sisters Palmira and Maria Jose; brothers Jack Patricinio and Ze-Luis Junior as well as husband Antonio Batista.
Gracinda will be lovingly missed by her children Maria Jose Goncalves (Jose), Joe Batista and Tony Batista; grandchildren Isabel (Paul), Denny (Tanya), Debbie (Angelo) and Corinne (Vito);
great-grandchildren Sierra, Cody, Savannah, Brayden, Nick, Janessa, Samantha and Luca as well as many nieces, nephews and extended family.
Gracinda was born in Erada, Portugal on April 11, 1922 and immigrated to Canada in 1961. She was a very kind, happy lady who was always willing to give a helping hand to those in need.
A funeral mass will be celebrated by Fr. Rex Velmonte at 10:30 A.M. Thursday November 29, 2012 at St. Anne’s Catholic Church, Osoyoos, BC. Interment and committal will follow at the Osoyoos Lakeview Cemetery. A reception in the church lower hall hosted by the CWL will follow the interment.
In lieu of flowers, donations are gratefully accepted for the Alzheimer Society, 104 – 35 Westminster Avenue E., Penticton, BC V2A 1H7.
