It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of our dear Graham David Lamont. The Lord took him to his forever home in heaven on December 4, 2021, at the age of 64.
Graham was born in Calgary, Alberta, on June 4, 1957. He wore many hats but in 1988 he started his karaoke business. Music was his passion and his patrons became his friends as they enjoyed music together. Graham would never take no for an answer from those who said they would never sing. Some of them became the biggest fans of karaoke. They called him the “King of Karaoke” or “The Long-haired Karaoke Guy”. His long hair was donated several times to the Cancer Society for “wigs for kids”.
He leaves behind his wife, Joy (his Tinker), his children Kristine, Dawn, Dylan, stepchildren Christie (Tim), Jesse (Heidi), and granddaughters Jasmine and Meah, mother-in-law Ruth (his Momsie), sister-in-law Hope (Felipe), brother-in-law Tim, nieces and nephews, great nephews, and Charlie (his PTSD dog), many friends and his patrons that he loved dearly.

There will be a quiet family service at a later date. We are so grateful for the outpouring of love and respect for Graham and his family and appreciate all the kind words, cards, food, and flowers. A special thank you to the ICU doctors and nurses at the Kelowna General Hospital for their gentle care of Graham and Joy. Also special thanks to the staff at Nunes-Pottinger Funeral Service who always show such compassion and competence.

Graham was a very dear friend to myself, my better half and are friends. He always made us feel like everyone else when we would come to karaoke and we thank him for it. We miss him like crazy and always will. RIP Graham you deserve it.

I was one of the ones he never gave up on, and he finally got me up to sing, even if there was only 5 or 6 to listen to me. He got me up twice again to sign. It is a very hard time of the year to loose one so loved, and liked by so many in the community. My condolences go out to Joy and family, he will be missed by so many.

It is with profound sadness we hear about the passing of my brother Graham, I have not seen him since he left Calgary and always wondered what had become of him after he left. We have read about some of the recent events in his life and wish that his life was not filled with tragic events out of his control. What I did see reminded me of all of the things I knew Graham to be, hard working, dedicated to family and friends. Karaoke King is a fitting title, Graham loved to sing and when sharing a room together, its was common for the radio to be on until we went to sleep and likely played all night, music is a family trait. Please know that we are thinking about you and your family, it seems like he was able to find what he couldn’t from us here.

Always enjoyed the advent of meeting up with Graham, at the Tuc-el-unit School grounds, walking his furry friend, Charlie, and having encouraging and life-giving conversations about family and the blessings of being grateful. Joy and the family remain in our prayers.

Joy, we were so sad and shocked to hear about Graham. He thought about others and donated that long ponytail a couple of times for cancer. What a guy! He will be missed by all who knew him. Our love and condolences to all of the family.
