Tribute

It is with great sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Gregory William Neeves Drake, at the age of 65 on Sunday May 21, 2023. Greg was surrounded by family and friends by the lake.

Greg was born in Vancouver on December 25, 1957. He was the second eldest of four boys born to Howard and Marjorie Drake.

He is survived by his wife, Kathy of 37 years, son, Ryan (Yanna), daughters, Ashley (Denis) and Katelyn (Curtis) and adorable grandson, Banks, with his second grandson on the way. Greg also leaves behind brothers, Steve (Doris), Tim (Kelly) and Mark (Gwendolyn), mother-in-law, Mary, sisters-in law, Carol and Colleen. Greg was adored by all his nieces and their partners.

He was predeceased by his parents, Howard and Marjorie, father-in-law, Edward, sister-in-law, Leslie and brothers-in-law, Mike and Daryl.

At the age of 15, Greg began a lifetime career in the family electric motor business. With his Dad and brothers Tim and Mark they successfully owned and operated Drake’s Universal Sales and Service for 50 years.

Above all, Greg loved spending time with his family and friends. He was a loving husband, father and grandpa and went above and beyond to support and care for his family. He was always willing to lend a helping hand to anyone and everyone.

Greg loved boating, camping, and travelling to sunny warm places. He enjoyed organizing big group camping trips with family and friends to bring everyone together to our favourite spots.

We wish we had more time together but will always cherish all the memories he created with us. We miss you and love you forever.

A Celebration of Life will be held for Greg in the fall as he wouldn’t want a sunny day wasted indoors.

In remembrance of Greg’s life, the family asks that any memorial contributions be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Canada or the charity of your choice.
