Tribute

Grethe Marie Jensen, born July 14 1925 in Gaerup, Danmark, passed away peacefully in her sleep on March 4, 2019 in Osoyoos.

Grethe and Mads, proudly immigrated from Danmark to British Columbia in 1951, where she worked along side her husband on the Kohler farm in Cawston. In 1952, they moved their family to Osoyoos, where they settled on their family farm.  Grethe worked endless hours managing their orchard and raising their four children.  Grethe enjoyed entertaining, whether it was planning her children’s birthday parties or throwing a traditional Danish smorgasbord, with family and friends.  She had a love of cooking, baking, knitting, gardening and cooling off with a dip in Osoyoos Lake at Haynes Point.  Grethe’s grandchildren quickly learned to not show up to Grandma Jensen’s house with a full belly.  Grethe and Mads spent their golden years snow-birding in the Arizona/Mexican deserts, dancing under the stars with their friends.  Grethe spent her final two years at Mariposa Gardens, where she embraced new friendships.

Her children would like to thank the staff and residents who opened their hearts to her.  Grethe is predeceased by her husband, Mads, her first born child, Eric and her beloved grandson Gordon.

Grethe leaves her children, Karin (Rob) Brown, Lena (Keith) Sheardown, Mary-Ann (Jim) Muskett and Robert (Terri) Jensen.  Her grandchildren Rob and Kristen Brown, Lacey and Kevin Sheardown, Tayler and Dana Muskett and Brian Jensen.  Great grandchildren Nick, Eric and Kayln Brown, Kristoffer and Katrina Brown, Mateja Wiltse, Jordyn Kemp and Kelvin Sheardown.
