Hazel Johnson (nee Tallyn)
September 24, 1918 - July 4, 2013
Tribute
On July 4th, long-time Osoyoos resident Hazel Elaine Johnson passed away
peacefully in her sleep, at the age of 94 years.
She was predeceased by Roy her husband of over 50 years
and her daughter Doreen Louise Loat.
Hazel is lovingly remembered by her children; Lois, Elaine (Richard) and Glenn (Laurie)
as well as ten grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren, who all provided Hazel
with love and care.
Hazel moved to Osoyoos in 1944 with her husband Roy and daughter Doreen.
She worked in the packing house for many seasons.
Hazel was a member of the Legion Auxiliary, Eastern Star and Royal Purple and
the Rockhounds.
She loved singing with the Sweet Adelines and enjoyed
many trips in their motorhome with the Sam Club.
Hazel’s hobbies were painting pictures, gardening, collecting rocks and stamps
and spending time with her beloved pets.
Although she belonged to the Anglican Church, she had been attending the Valley Congregational Church more recently.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday July 13th at 11:00 a.m. at Valley Congregational Church (Black Sage Rd.) with Rev. Ken Clarke officiating.
A light lunch will follow in the church.
Urn interment in the Osoyoos cemetery and a celebration of life will take place in mid August.
