Tribute
Passed away peacefully at home on Sept. 23, 2018. Predeceased by husband Peter
and daughter Iris. Survived by her brother Wilfried (Franziska) and sister Karin (Horst).
Loving mother of Harry (Nancy) Serwo, Monika (Harold) Hallett, Romy (Darrell)
Serwo, Grandchildren Tom Hallett and Tanis (Randy) Houle. Loving nephew and niece
Boris (Anke) and Jenny (Peter).
Helga was born on April 20 1938 in Liegnitz Germany. She graduated from nursing school,
and started her nursing career in Hamburg. There she met the love of her life and started
to raise their family. The family emigrated to Canada in 1966 and started their new passion,
viticulture. Working alongside her husband in the vineyard and later in the winery gave
Helga the greatest satisfaction. Even in winter, she could be found cross country skiing
through the rows of grapes.
Upon her retirement to Penticton, she continued to enjoy the great outdoors, and was
especially fond of walks along Skaha beach.
A private family service was held in Oliver on November 24th 2018.

Relation: A former customer of mine.
Peter and Helga were one of my first firewood customers when I got my license at age 16 (33years ago). They were both extremely friendly and very kind to me as a kid trying to make a buck. My sympathies to the family.
