Tribute

On Saturday, April 21, 2018, Mr. Herbert Raymond Timpe of Osoyoos passed away peacefully at the South Okanagan General Hospital at the age of 93 years.

He was predeceased by his parents Otto and Georgina Timpe; brother George; sisters Marjorie (Harold) and Irene (Paul); first wife Gladys Timpe and his second wife Teresa Timpe.

Herb will be fondly remembered by his loving family including daughters Pat

Timpe-Rothenburger (Terry) and Janice Archdekin (Dean); step-son Wim Verwoert (Greta); grandchildren Ryan Archdekin (Sara), Brennon Archdekin (Mandy), Rychelle Campbell (Scott) and Erin Salazar (Brad); great-grandchildren Jack Archdekin, Chael Salazar and Cain Salazar as well as his long time beloved companion Ellen Solvason.

Herb was a proud WWII veteran and was the last surviving member of his Westminster Regiment. He is a lifetime member of the Royal Canadian Legion and travelled to Holland for the 60th Anniversary of the Liberation of Holland.

He worked 39 years for the Canadian National Railway and for the Corp of Commissionaires after retiring from the CNR.

Herb loved adventure and traveled extensively in the US and Canada. Pat and Janice enjoyed yearly summer vacations when they were young. After retirement he went to warm USA locations for 28 years.

He was always very giving of his time and volunteered as the assistant manager with the Biggar National Hockey Team, he raised a great deal of money as a volunteer with the Royal Canadian Air Cadets in Biggar, SK and enjoyed playing Santa Claus for the children at malls in Edmonton, Alberta,

Herb was an avid hockey fan with his favourite team being the Edmonton Oilers. He also enjoyed playing pool with friends and dancing every Saturday with his “Dancing Partner”, Ellen Solvason.

In lieu of flowers, donations are gratefully accepted for the Canadian Cancer Society or a charity of one’s choice.

A celebration of life will be held at 2:00 P.M. Thursday, April 26, 2018 at the Oliver Seniors Centre followed by a graveside urn interment and committal at the Osoyoos Lakeview Cemetery.
