Tribute

On Thursday, December 20^th; long time Osoyoos resident, Mr. Herb Hiller passed away peacefully in Prince George BC with his loving family by his side, at the age of 74 years old. Funeral services for the late Herb Hiller will be held at the Elks Hall in Osoyoos on Thursday January 3^rd 2013 at 1pm. With an interment to follow in Osoyoos Lakeview Cemetery at 2pm. Reception will be held afterwards in lower level of the Elks Hall. Herb was predeceased by his mother Berta Hiller and brother John Hiller in 2003 and by his father Andreas Hiller in 2004. He will be lovingly remembered by his family, including his 3 children Wayne Hiller of Kelseyville, California, Renate Hiller of Prince George BC, Lisa (Donald) Strilkiwsky of Prince George BC; 10 Grandchildren and 1 Great Granddaughter born in February 2011; 6 brothers and sisters as well as many friends. Herb Hiller was born in Neu-Sarata, Romania on Aug. 12, 1938. He came to Canada with his mom and dad, brothers and sister in 1954 where they settled in Alberta, before coming to Osoyoos in 1955. Herb worked as a carpenter and got into farming/ranching, where he raised and trained horses, for his true love of horseracing until his retirement. In 2011 he moved to Prince George B.C. to be with his family. Over the years Herb enjoyed the great outdoors and was an avid hunter and loved to quad, enjoying many trips with his family and friends. Herb also enjoyed buying cars and fixing them up and selling them (if he didn’t get too attached to them). Herb could always be found having his morning and afternoon coffees in the local restaurants with all of his friends. Herb’s constant happiness in life stemmed from his love for his family and friends.
