Humberto Da Costa

Tribute
Humberto Da Costa, of Osoyoos BC, passed away peacefully at the South Okanagan General Hospital in Oliver on Monday, August 22, 2011 after a long battle with cancer.
Mourning his loss, his wife of 59 years, Jorgina, and their children Maria (Arthur) Silva, Durval (Filomina) Da Costa, Bert (Regina) Da Costa, Caroline (John) Tavares, Mike (Michele) Da Costa and John (Lorraine) Da Costa; together with his 21 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.
He was predeceased by his daughters Jorgina Da Costa Russon(1996) and Aldina Whelan(Mike) (2000).
Humberto was born on January 28th 1931, in Arrifes, Sao Miguel, Azores. He moved to Canada in 1959 and worked as a pot repairman for Alcan in Kitimat, BC; a job in which he was very proud of. One of Humberto’s greatest enjoyments were his yearly vacations through the scenic Okanagan and Victoria with his family. He retired in 1991 to beautiful Osoyoos with his devoted wife where they together fulfilled their passion for gardening and wine making. Humberto was once quoted for saying, “He was a very rich man because he had so many loving children and grandchildren.”
Prayers will be recited at 7:00 P.M. Thursday August 25, 2011 at St. Anne”s Catholic Church.
A funeral mass will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Friday, August 26, 2011 at St. Anne’s Catholic Church in Osoyoos, BC; celebrated by Father Dave DeSouza.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Canadian Cancer Society, c/o P.O. Box 1872,
Oliver, BC V0H 1T0.
