Ian Petrie 69, died Tuesday May 15, 2012 after a long battle with ALS. Ian was survived by his wife, Marilyn Sanford, two sisters, Julia Harvey and Rosalind Baverstock and father Mac Petrie. Ian was born to Mac and Vera Petrie in England.
Ian enjoyed an adventurers’ life having lived in the Middle East, India and Morocco before immigrating to Canada in 1974. He lived in Northern BC, the Queen Charlottes, Nanaimo and Vancouver, until he chose to move to Oliver to live out his last two years. Married for 31 years, Ian and Marilyn loved the boating life and enjoyed sixteen years living aboard Merfolk a 43’ Young Sun Sailing vessel.
