Little, Irene
(1928 – 2011)
Irene Little (nee Grakul) of Osoyoos, BC passed away suddenly but peacefully at her home on Tuesday,
March 8, 2011 at the age of 82 years.
Irene is survived by her husband James W. Little, children Colin, Donna (Perry) Fox, Gordon (Sandy),
Richard (Carmen), Brian (Laurie) and her grandchildren Nathan McDonald, Janice (Jake) Coughlan,
Darren (Tiffany), Christopher, Briana, Kaitlyn, Brennen, Carter and Bailea.
A savvy businesswoman, Irene worked as a bookkeeper and co-owned and operated I and J Foods in
Prince George, BC. She was also one of the first women to register as an Elks member in Canada.
Irene was actively involved in the Valley Congregational Christian Church and spent hours at her
favourite hobbies of gardening, baking and canning. But if asked Irene would say that her greatest
achievement was her family. She was a dedicated wife, mother and grandmother who always had a
ready smile, hug and slice of peach pie.
When the kids were young, the family took many camping trips across BC and Alberta with Vancouver
Island, Banff, Jasper and Calgary being favourite spots. Irene and Jim also travelled extensively
throughout Canada and the United States and even took the odd getaway to Mexico and Hawaii.
The funeral service will be held at 11:00 am on Monday, March 14th at the Osoyoos Elks Hall. Interment
and committal will take place at the Osoyoos Lakeview Cemetery.
