After a long and courageous battle with cancer, Irv passed away on October 6, 2017.
He is survived by his loving and devoted wife Sheilagh and their blended family of seven children: Marjorie (Kevin) Hivon, Michael Watrich, Sandra (Steve) Berry, Deborah Watrich, Ken Fuller, Kathleen (Gordon) Woloshuk, and Arthur Watrich.
He is also survived by eleven grandchildren: Casey (Caitlyn), Kurt (Carolyn), and Danielle Hivon, Brandon Watrich, Keith (Kirsten), Ryan Davis, Tiera Berry, Tasha Novak (Lorne Sich), Kimberley (Dustin) Barthell, Clayton Mann, and Amy (Ryan) Stumborg; and nine great-grandchildren: Trevor, Ackley, Ryker, and Huxley Hivon, Mia Davis, Grey Novak-Sich, and Ryker, Clara, and Emmerick Barthell.
Irv is also survived by his sisters Bernice Payne and Patsy Massingham, his brother Larry (Dianne) Watrich, brother-in-law Grant Elliott, and sister-in-law Rita Hallinan, as well as several nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his parents Mack and Alice (Olga) Watrich, parents-in-law George and Pat Hallinan, his first wife Mildred (nee Howard), sister Evelyn Elliott, in-laws Jack Payne, Eric Massingham, Phil Hallinan, and George and Leanne Hallinan.
Irv was born in Bonnyville, Alberta, raised in Cranbrook, BC and began a lifetime trucking career in 1956. He travelled extensively throughout Canada and the U.S.A. As the song says, “I’ve been everywhere, man.” He made many friends in many places.
Irv and Sheilagh retired to Osoyoos in 1999 and began a fun-filled, relaxing retirement. He met many new people in his various retirement adventures, golfing, curling, playing pool, fishing, hunting, travelling and lifting a few with his buds.
Irv had a great life, a great family, and many great friends. He will be dearly missed by all.
A celebration of life will be held at the Osoyoos Golf Club on Sunday October 15 from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m. Donations to the Canadian Cancer Society would be greatly appreciated.
Our thanks to Dr. G. Tarr and his staff for their care, compassion, and understanding of Irv’s needs.
Arrangements entrusted to Nunes-Pottinger Funeral Service, Oliver and Osoyoos, 250-498-0167.

We too send our condolences to Sheliagh and the family on the recent passing of Irv. Irv always had a smile and a friendly hello. I remember him once telling me he kept his putter separate from the other clubs in his golf bag as he didn’t what ‘them” to be a bad influence on his putter.
