Tribute

Jack (Ingjald) Sigfrid Nordstrom was born on July 17, 1942 in Aland, Finland and passed away peacefully on December 27, 2023 in Osoyoos, BC. Jack was the beloved son of Bertil and Margareta Nordstrom.

Jack was a proud father of two daughters, Amber and Krista (and her husband Jonathan) and four grandchildren, Keagan, Hannah, Owen and Nathan. He was also a loving brother to Gorel (deceased) and her husband Kjell Nilsson, Birgitta and her husband Larry Pattenaude, and Karl Bo Anderson and his wife Liz and their respective families. Jack was also survived by his former wife Marilyn Nordstrom.

Jack’s family emigrated from Sweden in 1952 to Vancouver, but settled on Capitol Hill in Burnaby, BC. In his younger years he had the opportunity to travel the world at sea. Jack had a long and successful career at KAY-SON Steel in Coquitlam as a steel fabricator until his retirement. He was a lover of the outdoors, hunting, fishing, and tending to his tomato, dill, and chive plants. He was known for his Swedish pancakes and his love of Kokanee beer, Absolut vodka, cowboy boots, and Elvis Presley. In his younger years he had a horse named Billy in Maple Ridge.

Jack was a social butterfly and was always up for a good time with family and friends. He was a kind, gentle, and generous grandfather who never shied from treating his grandkids when they visited him in Osoyoos. In the most recent years Jack enjoyed his A&W teen burgers and cherished his family visits outside of his care home.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff of Mariposa Gardens Assisted Living in Osoyoos for enhancing Jack’s quality of life in his final years, and a special thanks to Lindsay for her exceptional care.

Jack will be remembered for his love of life, his sense of humour, and his ability to make everyone around him laugh. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.

A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
