Tribute

On Wednesday, October 23rd, 2024, Jaime Dos Santos Barroca passed away peacefully after a short illness at the Penticton Regional Hospital at the age of 83. He is predeceased by his father José Barroca Vinagre; his mother Maria da Luz Dos Santos Nascimento; and his brothers Guilherme and Antonio.
Jaime is survived by his wife Maria Nunes Fernandes; sister Celeste Mateus; brothers Victor and Fernando; children Inez, Helena (Paul), David (Krista), and Natalia; grandkids Justin, Adam, Celeste, Victoria, Christopher and Vienna; eight great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, and extended family members.

Jaime worked as a mason in France before coming to Canada where he switched to orchard work. His specialty was grafting.
He loved to travel; taking trips back home to Portugal and visiting places like California, Reno, Vancouver and Victoria.
Jaime loved the outdoors and was an avid hunter and fisherman. He enjoyed soccer, and camping and was a fan of the Montreal Canadians. He was a member of the Portuguese Canadian Cultural Society, FOE USA, was a member of the Canadian Legion and attended St. Anne Catholic Church.

He spent his last three years in assisted living at Mariposa Gardens where he enjoyed many outings, social activities and sharing a glass of his homemade Portuguese wine with some of his fellow residents.

The family would like to sincerely thank the staff at Mariposa Gardens and the doctors, nurses and staff at Penticton Regional Hospital, 5th floor for their compassion and care of Jaime.

Prayers will be recited at 10:30 am followed by the funeral mass at 11:00 am, Monday, November 4th, 2024 at St. Anne Catholic Church in Osoyoos.
