Jennifer Rose Yendley (Hicklin)

January 23, 1946 - June 28, 2025

Tribute

With heavy hearts we announce the passing of Jenny Yendley on Saturday, June 28, 2025, at the age of 79. She had her three children and their spouses by her side.

Jenny was born on January 23, 1946 in Anston, England to Nellie and Charlie Hicklin and big brother Barry. She spent her early years in Harthill, England and then when Jenny was in her early 20’s she moved to Canada with her young family. She settled in the Port Coquitlam area.

Over the years Jenny lived and raised her children in Coquitlam and Port Coquitlam and she could be found working in various pubs like The Sportsmen Club of Port Moody and The Port Moody Rec Centre. Through those jobs Jenny made many lifelong friends whom she adored.

In her mid-50s, Jenny went out on her own and opened the Tea Cozy. A wonderful spot in Port Moody where you could get a cup of tea and a delicious British treat. This endeavor also brought her the opportunity to open her own catering company, offering amazing British fare like meat pies and shepherd’s pies.

In 2007 Jenny retired to Keremeos and bought a home in Sagewood Park. No one was surprised when she once again made many amazing friendships there. She talked about her friends all the time and valued her time with everyone.

Wherever Jenny lived, she always had the companionship of a four-legged friend. She was such a big dog lover and never went anywhere without her pets. The family is comforted knowing Jenny is reunited with her beloved Abbi.

Jenny passed peacefully and was surrounded by the love of her family. She is predeceased by her parents Nellie and Charlie Hicklin. She is survived by her children Sharon (Don) Saby of Osoyoos, Bryn (Tami) Yendley of Trenton, Ontario and Steve (Karen) Yendley of Kelowna; four grandchildren Travis, Jenna, Connor and Jordyn; her brother Barry (Hilary) of Harthill, England and their children Graeme and Alison.

As per her wishes, there will be a small family gathering to celebrate her life. Jenny also wished to have her ashes spread in England. The family plans to take her home in the coming months.
