A special memory of John is many years ago when we accidently met on the street in Amsterdam while we were both travelling separately in Europe. I was with a friend and we spent several days with John. He was always a very good brother to me and I have many good memories of our time together over the years.

John was always my closest and best friend through the years. I shall miss him very much. May God be with you at this trying time.

From: Marg Gerrie
Relation: Sister

I’ll miss our walks at Fox Island river. I will love you always and hope and pray that you have found rest and peace,

From: Phyll Joy
Relation: Cousin

A favorite memory of John is when he visited the Dew Drop Inn. He had a gorgeous leather jacket and looked so cool, I was proud to be his cousin. I pray that peace has found him.

From: Paula and Daniel Meyers
Relation: Daughter and Son-in-law

A few Memories that stand out for me personally (Paula), are going to Newfoundland with John and meeting my Grandfather, and going to Las Vegas and meeting my Uncle Joe. I also enjoyed going to Ottawa and meeting my Aunt Marg, Uncle Doug, and Cindy.
I also enjoyed going to a Blue Jays Game with Uncle Andy. I hope to meet more family members.
John enjoyed travelling to spend time with his family, and also spending time with his friends. I’m grateful for the gift of family that God has given us. We may not always have a huge quantity of time with our loved ones, but quality of time is important, and always remembered.
Daniel and I have memories of having one of John’s favourite meals together at his apartment on Dunfield Ave. in Toronto on a few occassions. (Grilled Steak, Mushrooms, and Corn on the Cob) He also enjoyed Swiss Chalet and Theodores.
May the Peace of God be with him and all family grieving this loss.

From: Gavin Graham
Relation: Lontime friend

First met John in1961 when we both worked for the City of Toronto but haven’t seen him since 2000. We had many great times together. He was the only person I ever knew who could come inside on a wet, muddy night with his shoes still shining. His name frequently comes up when I see old friends who knew him – even though briefly. I am very sad to hear of his passing.
