With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of John Yendley on Sunday, May 17, 2026, at the age of 81.
John was born on February 17, 1945, in Sheffield, England, to Sarah and Herbert and sister Anne. He began his apprenticeship with Listerdale Motor Company in April 1962 in Yorkshire, England. John moved to Canada with his family in 1973.

John settled in Hedley, B.C., where he could be found working in his shop, Hide A Way Motors, always helping anyone with a smile. He was well-loved in his community.

John is predeceased by his parents, Sarah and Herbert Yendley. He is survived by his children, Sharon (Don) Saby of Osoyoos, Bryn (Tami) Yendley of Belleville, Ontario and Steve (Karen) Yendley of Kelowna; four grandchildren, Travis, Jenna, Connor and Jordyn; and his sister Anne of Sheffield, England.

As per his wishes, there will be a small family gathering to celebrate his life.

Dad, your hands were rough, your shoulders wide, 

A quiet strength, our constant guide.

You asked for little, gave your best,

And now we know you’ve earned your rest.

One daughter, two sons, fully grown. 

Still feel the love that we have known.

The lessons that you gently taught,

The battles that you bravely fought,

Live on within the lives we lead,

In every word and every deed.

Though you are gone, your spirit stays—

Guiding us through all our days.

Dad, through the years and all we do,

We’ll always be a part of you. 

Forever in our hearts.
