Tribute

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved Husband and Father, Joe Liebel on May 14^th, 2023.

Joe was born on March 14, 1930 in Loon Lake SK and moved to Osoyoos in the early 40’s with his family.  He was predeceased by his parents, John Sr. and Rosalia, his siblings Ludvina (Rubner), Edward, John Jr., and Mary (Moreau).

He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Christine, his children Mark, Anita and Karen, in-laws Pearl, Linda & Dominic, Bridget & Rod, Liz, and countless nieces and nephews.

Joe was a business owner for much of his life including as an orchardist and bulldozing company.  Prior to retirement he worked for the school board as a custodian.  He was happiest puttering around the yard or working on projects in his garage.  He was an avid outdoorsman spending summers camping, fishing and foraging along roads he bulldozed up the Christian Valley.

He was a charter member of the Osoyoos Golf Club and bulldozed much of the first 9 holes.  He was active in the Elks and Knights of Columbus.  He spent much of his retirement golfing whenever possible.

The funeral mass will be held at St. Anne’s Catholic Church in Osoyoos at 10 am on Tuesday, May 23^rd followed by the urn interment and committal at the Osoyoos Lakeview Cemetery. A reception at the Osoyoos Legion Hall will follow the interment.
