Tribute

After a courageous battle with cancer, Mr. Joseph Sobolewski of Oliver, BC passed away peacefully on Friday, August 12, 2016 at the age of 82 years. He was predeceased by his brother John, of McLennan, AB.

Joe is lovingly remembered by his wife Mary Elizabeth, his children Darrell (Maryanne), Brent (Brenda) of Red Deer, AB, Charmaine of Kamloops, BC, and Lea (Chris) of Richmond, BC, his brothers Steve (Rose) and Louie (Eileen), his sisters Maryanne and Anne, all of St. Albert, AB and his many grandchildren.

Joe was self-employed for many years in Red Deer, AB. He moved to BC in 1987 and worked as a cabinet maker for Langley Kitchen until his retirement in 1999, whereupon he moved to Oliver.

Joe was a wonderful husband and devoted to his children and many grandchildren, as well as to his religion. He was a member of Christ the King Catholic Church.   He would help anyone with fix-ups around the home from plumbing to electrical problems.

Joe was an active man who enjoyed gardening, woodworking, and fixing things. He liked to go for 3 km walks in the morning. He loved Christie Memorial Provincial Park in OK Falls and went there frequently. Trips in the camper van took him to Alaska, across Canada, and down the Oregon Coast. He visited family in Alberta and Richmond BC often.

A memorial mass will be held on Thursday August 18 at 11:00 a.m. at Christ the King Catholic Church, with Fr. Neil Lustado officiating. Interment and committal will be in Langley, BC at a later date.
