Josephine Schendl

Tribute
Josephine was born in Villach, Austria to Josef and Johanna Baumschlager. After finishing high school she worked at various jobs. In 1951, she met Walter and it was love at first sight. They got married in 1953 and moved to Switzerland until 1956 when they immigrated to Canada. Walter found a job as a machinist at General Electric in Peterborough, Ontario and they lived there for 40 years. The move to Osoyoos came in 1997 with 20 happy years of retirement.
Many of her interest were shared with her husband like her love of nature, birds, cats, flowers and golf. An avid reader of history and poetry, she had a natural talent for handicrafts. As an accomplished cook she treated many of our friends to delicious dinners. She was also a very good 10 pin bowler and a competitive golfer with 3 holes-in-one to her credit.
Her greatest attribute was her always cheerful personality and her ease to make friends. Josie was loved by so many. She will be in our hearts and greatly missed by all of us.
Josephine passed away at Moog and Friends Hospice in Penticton at 2:20 AM on May 5th with her husband by her side. Many thanks to the caregivers who did everything they could to keep her comfortable. Thank you also to Dr.Bellingan and Dr. Hill for their kindness.
