Josette Edwards

November 15, 1938 - March 1, 2018

Tribute

It is with immense sorrow that we announce the sudden passing of Josette Jeanne-Marcelle (née Vincent) Edwards of Osoyoos. Born in 1938 in southern France, raised in Morocco, Josette came to Canada as a teenager. In Dawson Creek, she met and married her soul-mate and best friend, Bruce Edwards. Together, they lived in various countries and many provinces; they continued to explore their passion for travelling until Bruce’s untimely death. Josette excelled in a number of careers, finally retiring from Alberta Forest Service.

Josette’s enduring passion was the environment. She saw beauty in every living being, relished time outdoors, and enjoyed exploring the majesty of nature. Her love of animals meant she shared her home with many fur babies. She enjoyed volunteering at the Osoyoos Desert Centre, and spent many hours ensuring the well-being of critters of all kinds. She loved the hours she spent in her large garden, and she had already been looking forward to getting her seeds planted, ruthlessly killing weeds, and enjoying the fruits of her labours.

As Josette wished to leave as small a fingerprint on the earth as possible, she was cremated at her request, and no services will be held. We would ask that you remember Josette as you enjoy the budding of the trees, the blossoming of the bulbs, and the warming of the earth.

Josette’s family was of paramount importance to her: she believed in the strength, endurance, love and loyalty of kin. Without her, we are greatly diminished. She is survived by her son Scott (Karen) of Osoyoos, her daughter Monique of Kelowna, her grandson James (Kari) of Winnipeg, her sister Mirielle (Raleigh) of Oroville, her brother Michel of Osoyoos, her fabulous “luncheon ladies”, and numerous friends.

Relation: Friend and neighbor

Our very deepest condolences go out to Josette’s family and friends. We will miss her wit, her outspokeness and especially our chats on neighborhood politics. She was a great animal caregiver and there will be some very sad partridges, ducks & cats in our neighborhood. Josette was truly one of a kind and we enjoyed having her as a friend and neighbor. She is sadly missed.
