Tribute
On Sunday August 2, 2015, Mrs. June James of Oliver, BC passed away peacefully at McKinney Place at the age of 84 years.
June was predeceased by her father Joseph Milburn, her mother Audrey Milburn, sister in-law Dorothy McAlpine.
June will be fondly remembered by her loving family including spouse Roy James, their son Tracy (Judy) James, Grandchildren Kyle, Coby (Miranda), Great grandchildren, Jake, Jaxson and Ava. Son Rodney James (Dora Stelkia), grandchildren Dustin (Kaitlin), Bryton (Sarrena) great granddaughter Zenaya, granddaughter Brianna, June’s brother Darryl (Tiger) and his wife Jean Milburn, brother in-law Doug (Marg) James, as well as many nieces, nephews and extended family.
June was born and raised in Trail, BC. She went to Business College and became a stenographer for C.M. & S. in Trail. She was married to her Husband Roy James of South Slocan for 61 years. They moved to Oliver in 1974 where they raised their family. June loved working at Black Sage Orchard Packing House.
June had a great love for many sports. But ultimately loved baseball and curling winning numerous medals and awards.
June enjoyed her travels to Las Vegas, Laughlin, Hawaii and Scotland.
She participated in many golf fundraisers for cancer, many hours preparing food for the Soup Kitchen and dedicated much time to the Oliver Food Bank.
June’s family would like to sincerely thank the staff at McKinney Place for their kind, compassionate, loving care!
No formal service by June’s request. A private family service will take place in Trail, BC at a later date.

Longtime neighbours “across the alley” from Tiger & Jean, we enjoyed many visits with Roy & June when they came to visit family in Trail. We also enjoyed receiving from the bounty of June’s gifts of local fruits and vegetables, her home canning and her ice bucket pickles. June’s generous heart was well matched with her teasing ways and her ready smile. We extend our condolences to Roy and family.

The congregation of Oliver United Church extends sincere condolences to Roy and family in their loss of June.
Along with Roy, June contributed countless volunteer hours at the Sunshine Soup Kitchen at the church from its beginning in the early 90’s, until declining health forced her to curtail her activities.
June’s faithful service to this outreach ministry for over 20 years was a wonderful gift, and will always be part of her legacy here at the church, and in the Oliver community.
