Kaj Bye-jensen
October 2, 1939 - December 15, 2016
Tribute
With deep sadness we announce the passing of Kaj Bye-Jensen. He passed away at his home surrounded by his loving family on Thursday, December 15, 2016 at the age of 77 years.
Kaj will be fondly remembered by his loving family including his devoted wife Joan, his sons Niels (Mandy) and Lars, and his grandsons Clay, Colby, and Curtis. He was predeceased by his father Willy (1975), his mother Ellen (2002), his nephew Steven (2006), and his brother-in-law Murray (2013). He leaves behind an extended family and many friends.
As an adventurous young man, Kaj left Denmark and moved to Vancouver. It seemed he was destined to meet his “Joanie” there. They did some travelling before settling down with a house and 2 children. Kaj worked for many years as an appliance technician. After a few years of ill health, he received a heart transplant on Christmas morning 1995. Three months later he was able to resume his previous activities such as skiing, jogging, and golfing.
Kaj’s wit and friendly manner won him many friends in the Lower Mainland as well as his new home in Osoyoos.
A Celebration of Life will be held in early May at the Osoyoos Golf Club (date and time to be announced later).
In lieu of flowers, people are encouraged to register with or donate to the BC Transplant Society.

Dear Joan – I never got to meet Kaj but I remember very well the day that news of his successful transplant spread around BCTV. How wonderful that he was able to enjoy 20+ more years with you because of it. My thoughts are with you.

So sad to hear about your loss. We have known each other for over 30 years and you folks are like family to me. You and Kaj have always been a good host to many after-work gatherings and (schnapps) parties at your house in Coquitlam. His welcoming smile and generosity are the fond memories I will never forget.
