Tribute

Kathleen was born in Northern Ireland to Tom and Annie Millar. She arrived in Canada in 1930 along with her mother and sister Emily, to join their father and brother Alec, in Trail B.C.  Kathleen met and married her first husband David Benton in 1932. They raised their two children in Trail. Sadly, David passed away in 1955 at the age of 50.  She then met and married her second husband, Herb Jacobs, in 1967 in Trail.  Herb and Kathleen moved to Oliver after retiring in 1970 and enjoyed their years together golfing, traveling and exploring the Okanagan Valley. Kathleen lost her husband Herb,

in 1980. Being the strong woman she was, she spent a happy and busy time tending her flowers, especially her lovely roses, playing bridge with her many friends, giving of her time to the Sunnybank Auxiliary, (especially the bake table), driving her car until the age of 98 and generally living her life to the fullest.  Her last four years were spent in McKinney Place and Sunnybank Centre in Oliver B.C.

Her husbands, her parents, her sisters Emily and Annie, her brothers Tom and Alex, her stepdaughter Muriel and her husband Ray, five brothers-in- law, four sisters-in-law, one niece and one nephew predeceased Kathleen.  

Kathleen is survived by: her son Lester (Evelyn) in Nelson; her three grandchildren, Danny (Bernice) in Osoyoos, Donald in Ontario, and Deborah (George) in Kelowna; her four great-grandchildren, Christine, Christopher, Brianna and Noah and her great-great- grandchild Shaelyn; her daughter Lucille (Melvin) in Kimberley, her grandchildren David (Michelle) and great-grandson Kyus in Cranbrook, Robin in Vancouver and stepson Art in Calgary, AB; her stepdaughter Doreen (Merve) Cronie, their two children Wendy and grandchild Kendall and Barbara (Kevin) and grandchildren Ryan and Erin as well as four more grandchildren Karen, Kenny, D.J. and Marilyn all residing in the U.S.A. Kathleen is also survived by many nieces and nephews in BC, England and Northern Ireland.
