Keith Johnson

December 15, 1948 - January 12, 2026

Tribute

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Keith Johnson on January 12, 2026 after a courageous battle with cancer.  Keith was born in Blackpool, England on December 15, 1948, to parents, Ed and Nora Johnson.  He was predeceased in 2023 by his beloved wife, Patricia.  Keith is survived by his loving sister Lynda (Rob); nephew Graeme (Stephanie); sister-in-law Elaina (Fred); brothers-in-law David and Peter (Lynn); as well as many loving friends and extended family.

Keith came to Canada in 1977 after being transferred here by the National Westminster Bank.  He met Pat just two weeks later and they were married in 1979.  Keith’s career as a corporate banker took them to various cities across Canada and the United States.  After retiring from the Royal Bank of Scotland in 2006, they finally settled into their forever home on Tuc El Nuit Lake in Oliver where they hosted many memorable gatherings for family and friends.

A true people person, Keith never forgot a name and liked nothing more than bringing people together.  He was an avid sports fan, a lifelong supporter of Blackpool FC, a loyal Chicago Cubs fan, and an active member of the Nk’Mip Canyon Desert Golf Course. Keith liked a glass of fine red wine, single malt scotch, and a nice cold beer.  He had a great sense of humour and was known for telling very corny jokes and stories.  Keith will be fondly remembered by generations of children whom he entertained with The Wide-Mouth Frog.

The family would like to thank all those who sent messages of support and love over the past year.  We are especially thankful for the wonderful community in Oliver; the friends and neighbours who stepped up to help when he needed it most.

We would also like to thank the nurses and staff at the South Okanagan General Hospital and Mariposa for their thoughtful care in Keith’s final days.

If you wish, a donation in Keith’s honour to the South Okanagan Similkameen Medical Foundation: https://sosmedicalfoundation.com/  would be very welcome.

There will be a Celebration of Life for Keith on June 13, 2026 @ 1 pm at Keith’s House Beside the Lake..

I am sad to hear about Keith’s passing. I had a number of golf games with Keith at Inkameep Canyon which were always very entertaining, we even attended a few hockey games in Penticton to cheer on the Penticton Vees.
Keith was an instrumental part with Senior Men’s Day at Inkameep , always with a smile.

Relation: Friend

Keith and I worked together at NatWest Bank of Canada in Calgary in the early 80’s. He was a wonderful boss and later became a dear friend. When the Calgary branch closed I was devastated. So often the people we meet in our workaday lives come and go…but there was something special about NatWest and Keith. So we kept in touch…and a few years later I visited Keith & Pat in their new home in Houston. Fast forward a few years and once again destiny brought us both to Oliver to enjoy our retirement. A full circle moment and an opportunity to spend some happy moments together. I will be eternally grateful for my friendship with Keith and Pat over the years, but most especially for these last few years here in Oliver where my husband Brian & I enjoyed many happy get
togethers with them both. Fortunately I have forty years of memories to draw on when I’m missing Keith. Rest well my dear friend…

From: Alana LeSueur
Relation: Friend of Keith's sister-in-law, Elaina Mauro.

Although I did not know Keith personally, I knew his sister-in-law, Elaina Mauro since I was a teenager, during which time, the Mauros would come to Oliver to spend time at Tuc-il-nuit Lake. Elaina has always spoken with such love and affection of her sister, Pat and brother-in-law, Keith. May he rest in peace, together now, with his beloved wife, Pat. My sincerest condolences to Elaina, her partner, Fred and Keith’s family. I know that it has been and continues to be a great loss to Elaina.
