Kenneth Machan

March 27, 1925 - August 9, 2015

Tribute

Kenneth was born in Dauphin, Manitoba, in the same farm home where his father and his older brother Robert had been born. At age sixteen, his father said, “Either you go to school, or out to work.” So he went out to work at a sawmill for a number of years, then had a career with the Canadian Pacific Railway, in Calgary, Alberta, as a crane operator for 29 years. Because of health issues he retired in 1981, settling in Osoyoos.

Ken was a kind and giving man, loving his Lord and his fellow man dearly. He will be sadly missed by his loving wife, Gertrude, of Cactus Ridge Retirement Residence, where they had made their home this past year; his sister-in law Mildred of the same address; his son Glenn and his wife, Vivian, of Salmon Arm, B.C., and his son Scot of Victoria; fifteen grandchildren and many great grandchildren.

A funeral service will be held at 11:00 A.M. Thursday, August 13, 2015, at the Osoyoos Seventh-day Adventist Church. Interment will follow at the Osoyoos Lakeview Cemetery, with  a reception afterward in the church Fellowship Hall.

Memorial gifts may be directed to the Heart and Stroke Foundation.

Relation: First cousin

Ken was such a kind, warm and friendly man. I will miss him. I extend my thoughts and prayers to all his family. He reminded me so much of my father, his uncle, Norman Stanley.

From: Linda Paley
Relation: met his wife this summer

Mrs Machan, I was very sorry to see in the paper that your husband passed away. Although I didn’t really know either of you, it was nice getting to meet you and your sister earlier this year when I did some sewing for you both. And of course I saw your husband then as well. You seemed like such nice people that I was sorry to see that he is no longer with you to share your life and love. God bless you in your time of sorrow.
