Tribute

On Friday, October 13, 2017, Mr. Larry Gordon Clarke of Oliver passed away unexpectedly at his home at the age of 53 years.

He was predeceased by his mother Verna Kay Clarke; father Robert Frank Campbell and brother James “Tony” Campbell.

Larry will be fondly remembered by his loving family including siblings Virginia (Charles), Helen (Greg), Ralph (Jane), Rose-Anne (Gary), Cindy (Craig), Leslie (Terry), William, Janet, Sandra, and Robert; numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.

Over the years, Larry worked for General Coach, Platinum Bench Winery and Hester Creek Winery. He was very generous with his time and volunteered for many years with the Oliver Parks and Recreation, Desert Sun Counselling and Resource Centre and was a one time member of the Oliver Kinsmen.

‘Uncle Icky’ was well loved by his many nephews, nieces as well as great nephews and nieces. His passions included photography, old cars, music and wine.

In lieu of flowers, donations are gratefully accepted for the Heart & Stroke Foundation and Desert Sun Counselling.

A celebration of life service will be held at 3:00 P.M. Friday October 20, 2017 at the Oliver Community Centre.

From: Carol Sheridan
Relation: Larry was my employer and friend

Hello dear Clarke family – my deepest condolences for your unexpected and very sad loss. Larry was a very important person in my life as a long time member of the Oliver Parks and Recreation Society (my employer) and someone that was always there to support me and the rest of the staff when we needed help. I have so many reasons to be thankful for my friendship with Larry and our whole community was better because of him and his love for our parks, special events and his volunteer commitment to Oliver Parks and Recreation. If there was time on Friday, I would love to share a few words on behalf of the Parks and Recreation staff to celebrate Larry and what he meant to us. We would like to speak with family, when the time is right, about a way to remember him at Community Park. May you all find comfort in each other during this sad time. If there is anything else that we can do to assist please contact me.

I, as I am sure many are, am still in shock that Larry is gone. We grew up and attended school together in Oliver and remained friends since graduating. It was so long that I always told him he was like a brother to me. He loved this community, was loyal to his friends and loved his family. I will miss his presence. I will miss the debates we had. I will miss hearing him talk about the wine industry that became a passion for him. I will miss my friend. Hugs to the family as you come to terms with the loss of your brother.

Dear Ralph, Jane and family.
So sorry to hear of Larry’s sudden passing. It was always interesting chatting with Larry & getting his view of things when I would take a tour of the production line. He will be missed by me and many others.
Take care, God bless

I was so saddened and shocked to learn of Larry’s passing. Since graduating together from SOSS in 1982, to the many years since, Larry has always been here. As colleagues in the wine industry for the last several years, conversations were easy with so much to share. Larry’s enthusiasm and genuine concern for the issues of our town will be sorely missed. Gone much too soon. Deepest condolences to the Clarke family from Mark and I.

To all of Larry’s family, please accept my sincere condolences. I have so many fond memories. The circle we hung out in during high school and beyond, and the memories that we made, will be remembered. Our lives took separate paths, but when I returned to Oliver ten years ago, it was always great to bump into him and talk about life and, of course, wine.
Hold on to your memories. I know I will.
