Leslie Ann Plaskett

April 18, 1949 - October 30, 2025

Tribute

Leslie Ann Plaskett passed peacefully on October 30, 2025. She was predeceased by her parents, Kenneth and Mollie Plaskett, her sister Fran Plaskett and her kitty kat, Lenny.

She is survived by her daughters Erin, Kristen and Dara, her son-in-law, Doug, and her grandchildren, Victoria and Tess, as well as her cherished extended family, beloved friends and community, and her other kitty kat, Squiggy.

Leslie was and is the brightest star. She loved without limit. She didn’t see your appearance, or your social status, or your supposed flaws. She saw the beauty in you. She was instantly friends with everyone. She was fascinated by your story. She was the mom who was everyone’s mom. She was the first to meet her neighbours. She adored her community, and where her love shone, beauty blossomed.

She was an artist at heart, visually and soulfully.

She was funny, clever, wildly smart. Radiant.

In her most joyful years, she was part of the team that opened the Desert Centre, President of the Museum Society, a member of the Board of the Arts Council, and an exceptional writer, as well as Editor of the Oliver Chronicle. Leslie was honoured by Chief Louie of the Osoyoos Indian Band for her facilitation of the collaboration between the Osoyoos Museum, the Osoyoos Indian Band and the University of Victoria to document the Inkameep Day School artworks collection. It was her “special interest” that brought the story behind the collection to life.

She was the kind of daughter and sister and mother you are best friends with, and the kind of granny who excited cheers of delight, who could sit for hours reading story after story or setting up entire worlds of Polly Pockets.

She whispered magic into Christmas.

She spent her quieter years in love and gratitude, being cared for so sweetly by her devoted family, but secretly being the one to take care of them. She inspired miracles. She befriended all of her drop-in care workers. She defied the odds medically a thousand times. There was simply always more love to give.

Leslie and her sister Fran were kindred spirits. Their legacy was kindness, compassion, relentless gentleness, contagious laughter and hope.

May we feel it cheering us on and giving us a warm embrace in our seasons to come. And may we share it with one another.

A celebration of life will be held this spring for both sisters together.

Relation: Cousin

I always enjoyed seeing Leslie visit the relatives in Osoyoos throughout the 80s and 90s Leslie. was so fashion forward that we would love to see what she was wearing so we would know what we would be wearing in Osoyoos in five years time! She had boundless energy and was so warm and genuine. She was so kind. So thoughtful. So full of grace. She had a way of making people feel seen, heard and valued. She had a beautiful way of wording things. She fought so very hard to stay here with her girls and family . My hope is that her soul is now with her parents and Frannie.
