Lila Porter
December 10, 1924 - February 24, 2017
Tribute
Lila, predeceased by her husband William (Bill) in 1998, passed away peacefully at Mariposa Gardens at Osoyoos, BC. She is lovingly remembered by her three daughters, Bonnie Hewitt, Karen Sieben (Ken), Heather Bould (Fred), 7 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren. All friends and family will miss her deeply.
Lila was born in Cowley, AB and was the youngest of 11 children born to Clay and Alice (nee Olin) Robinson. The family moved to Vancouver, BC where she grew up. She met and married William Burns Porter in 1942. Lila and Bill had three daughters, all born at St. Mary's Hospital in New Westminster, BC.
The family moved to the Sunshine Coast in 1951. Lila loved and was known for her volunteering for both the brownies and the Sechelt Hospital.
When Bill retired the two of them moved to a hobby farm in Oliver, BC. Lila carried on her volunteering at a care home and other local charities. Lila had some of her favourite memories there.
A celebration of life will be scheduled for a later date on the Sunshine Coast.
