Lillian was born in Wakaw Saskatchewan and raised on the family farm in Cudworth. She moved to North Vancouver, B.C. as a teenager with her family where she spent a few years at home helping her parents with the youngest of her siblings, Roy and Norma. In her 20’s, she was employed as a live in housekeeper/ nanny for a wonderful family in West Vancouver and has maintained a friendship with the family and ours throughout her life. Lillian met Nick during this time. They lived in Vancouver for the first 9 years of their marriage and had the first 6 of their children there. They moved the family to Prince George B.C. from 1962 to 1972 and for 2 years during this time they lived in Castelgar, B.C. for employment for Nick. From 1972 to 1992 they lived on and worked the orchard they bought in Oliver. Retirement kept them in Oliver.
Lillian loved her family. She shared her love of music with them. Frequently evenings were full of song and laughter. When grandchildren came along, she always looked forward to their visits and enjoyed playing cards and games with them. Lillian enjoyed reading her collection of cookbooks and experimenting with some of the recipes. She also enjoyed sewing and knitting and in recent years spinning and weaving. She was a member of the spinners and weavers guild in Oliver.
Lillian’s faith was the cornerstone in her life. She instilled good values and beliefs in her children and grandchildren. Lillian was a member of the CWL at Christ the King Church in Oliver and a member of the UCWL in Penticton, of which she was president for 2 years. She taught catechism for a number of years at Christ the King Church and volunteered as a babysitter for bible study groups.

May the choirs of angels come to greet Aunty Lillian, may they speed her to Paradise, may the Lord enfold her in his mercy as she finds eternal life. Eternal life grant unto her and may perpetual light shine upon her. We know that in Christ we have been redeemed and look forward to our reunion again in the Resurrection of the Dead. Aunty Lillian has gone on before us to join Uncle Nick and all of our family who sleep in Christ.

From: Teresa & Guyle Hetman
Relation: Neice

Perhaps they are not the stars, but rather openings in Heaven where the love of our lost ones pours through and shines down upon us to let us know that are happy. Aunty Lillian’s star will very bright.
