Tribute

On Wednesday June 18, 2014, Mrs. Lois Jean Cummings of Oliver was suddenly taken by cancer at the Penticton Regional Hospital at the age of 76 years.

She was predeceased by her son Michael; her parents Lawrence and Dorothy Floyd; her brother Ken Floyd and sister Elaine Floyd.

Lois will be fondly remembered by her loving family including husband Richard Cummings; children Toni (Richard) Hart, D’Arcy (Rita) Cummings; Charmaine (Paul) Sutherland and Sandra (Mark) Seidel; her grandchildren, great-grandchildren and extended family.

Lois and her husband ran a local corner store in Sardis, later she worked as a BCGEU employee until her retirement.

She was active in her community, volunteering with the hospital auxiliary as well as her local thrift store.

Lois was also very involved in the Oliver United Church and was always lending a hand with any event.

She also enjoyed her knitting and was a life-long reader but her passion was her baking.

A memorial service will be officiated by Rev. Heather Burton and Rev. Laura Turnbull at

2:00 P.M. Saturday June 21, 2014 at the Oliver United Church. A reception will follow in the church lower hall.

From: Doreen Visser
Relation: new Lois from the church Sumac Ladies and at the Thrift Shop in Oliver.

I will miss Lois and her hugs and friendship. She was a friend that I will always remember for her baking and her tremendous help at our Tea and Bake sales. She loved to work the bake table with the ladies and sell the baking. God will bless her. May Rick and the family find peace. With deepest sympathy, Doreen.

From: Angela Springer
Relation: Lois and Rick's Pedicure lady

My deepest sympathies and condolences to Rick and his family! I will never forget Lois and her generosity. She always organized the Pedicures I did for a lot of great people in the park and when I got to their place, she always fed me or sent me home with baked goodies or wool or magazines for my Spa. She was like a Mom to me and I will never forget her kindness and humor. Lois, I know you are looking down on your sweet Rick and your children from Heaven and you will always be with them and all of us. We love you and miss you ! May you find peace and rest until we meet again. xoxo
