Lorne Schwindt
March 4, 1937 - December 6, 2018
Tribute
On Dec. 6, 2018, Lorne passed away from a heart attack at the age of 81 years. Affectionately known as “Tubby” by his family, he is survived by his loving wife of 53 years, Barb; son John (Cathy) Schwindt, daughter Carol (Chuck) Winn; Grandchildren Matthew and Aidan Winn, and Ana and Jonah Schwindt. Lorne is also survived by his three sisters Marlene, Norma (Gilbert), and Beverley (Bob) and three brothers-in-law Bob (Liz), George (Trish), and Jim (Mary-Gaye) as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Born in Lewvan, SK in 1937, Lorne grew up on his family’s farm. Anxious to move to the big city and start working, Lorne graduated from high school a year early so he could start his career. After spending the early part of his career managing Burger Baron restaurants and other small businesses, Lorne moved to BC and got into the drycleaning business. He spent 38 years as the owner operator of drycleaning businesses in Port Coquitlam, Vancouver, and Maple Ridge.
Lorne enjoyed travelling, curling, golfing and spending time with family and friends. An avid sports fan, Lorne enjoyed watching a wide variety of sports, especially his beloved Boston Red Sox.
Known for his sense of humor, warm smile, and kind and easy-going nature, Lorne will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
His family are thankful he was able to enjoy every moment of his life up to his last, and at the time of his passing he was surrounded by friends.
A celebration of Lorne’s life will be held on March 29 of 2019 in Osoyoos, BC. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the BC Heart and Stroke foundation.

Lorne will be missed by the Osoyoos curling community. We very much enjoyed playing with him and will miss his smile and easy-going nature on and off the ice. He is part of our club’s history, skipping an 8-ender game last season. Our sympathies to Barb and family.
