Louise Ann Dambrowitz

January 6, 1944 - August 22, 2023

Tribute

It is with a heavy heart that we announce the passing of Louise (Parcels) Dambrowitz on August 22, 2023. Louise passed peacefully at home surrounded by her family in Osoyoos, BC.

Loving wife of John Dambrowitz. Daughter of Late William Parcels and Late Pearl (McIntyre) Parcels. Daughter-in-law of the Late Ernest and Jessie Dambrowitz. Her siblings Wilma Potts (Frank) (Late Melvin Longstreet), Late Larry Parcels and Robert Winters.

She was predeceased by her eldest daughter Wanda (Ted). She leaves behind her children Wendy Deneault (Saunders), David Dambrowitz (Christa) (Late Tammy), Dan Dambrowitz (Carrie-Ann) and Angie Dambrowitz (Kim).

She was blessed with 13 grandchildren; Kristine (Bryan), Jason (Kelly), Matt, Samantha (Mark), Trevor (Kalina), Casey (Jeff), Melissa (Paul), Kristy (Chad), Karen (Craig), Chad, Nichole, Scosia and Sierra, as well as 28 great-grandchildren. She will be missed by her many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Louise had a beautiful life that started on January 6, 1944. She grew up in Shillington, Ontario along with her siblings. At the young age of eight, Louise’s Mother passed away. Her extended family, aunts, uncles, cousins and dear friends created a close bond to the McIntyre clan. Louise and her Father enjoyed gardening, blueberry picking, Painkiller Lake and nature. Bill would visit daily for coffee and his take-home meal.

She graduated from Timmins High & Vocational School in 1959. During her school days, she built close bonds with her friends Gloria, Kathy, and Gerry. These friendships remain to this day.

Grandma Jessie and Louise shared a special bond having lost their mothers at a young age. Jessie and Louise spent every morning together enjoying coffee and long conversations at the farm. Louise and Ernie were both active in the 4-H Club. Louise’s family grew to include four brothers-in-law, five sisters-in-law and their families.

Louise was more than just the rock of our family. She had a career as a secretary working in Matheson at the Doctor’s clinic, the Township of Black River Matheson, and then Findlay Motors. Louise was also the secretary at St. Andrews United Church in Matheson.

She was always an active member of Matheson. She was a Sunday School teacher, 4-H leader, and volunteer for Matheson Agriculture Society where she became President. The Fall Fair was always her favourite time of year. She ensured John and the kids were ready to work for weeks prior to the Fair. Everything needed to be cleaned, painted, set up and ready for the event.

John and Louise ran the youth group, CBGT. They travelled around Northern Ontario with Dad driving the bus and Louise keeping an eye on the kids. They made many camping trips with the group to Watabeag Lake and Painkiller Lake. They created lasting memories for everyone.

Some of Louise’s proudest moments include being named the President of the Ontario Association of Agricultural Societies. Every February we traveled to Toronto for the Annual Convention. It was at the convention that she met Brian Edwards. Together they brought music shows to our small town, Matheson including Kitty Well, Mac Wiseman, Charlie Pride, The Carlton Show Band and who can forget Stomping Tom. Louise alongside Dennis Lougheed received metals for their contribution to Northern Ontario. Louise was named Woman of the Year.

Louise was a master seamstress making her own graduation gown. Her family was blessed to have wedding gowns, suits, dresses and everyday clothes handcrafted by Louise with her love. Every Christmas the family received knitted and crocheted gifts. Her latest creation being a crocheted egg apron.

Louise was happiest in her gardens. She loved canning and making preserves. The pantry was always full and her pies were always a favourite. While running her fruit stand in Osoyoos, she baked fresh seasonal fruit pies and always sold out by noon.

John and Louise retired to their dream home in Osoyoos, BC where Louise enjoyed the warm temperatures. She loved sitting outside looking over Lake Osoyoos with the hummingbirds, robins and deer.

Louise is now reunited with her loved ones.

A special thank you to Nurse Carmen for her support.

A celebration of life will be held on September 2, 2023, from 1:00 p.m. – 4:00 p.m. at St. Andrews United Church basement in Matheson, ON.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Andrews United Church in Matheson.
