On Tuesday, October 01, 2019, Mrs. Mary Doreen Stump of Peachland/Oliver passed away peacefully at Sunnybank Centre at age 98.
Doreen was born in Bedford, England June 11, 1921. She lived in Glasgow for a time and then moved to Nova Scotia at the age of seven. She married Robert Leon Stump in 1939. Children Maxine, Bob (Jimmy), Peggy and Rita were born in Nova Scotia before they moved to Peachland where Joan, Judy, Ron, John, Tom, Joey, Bill, Kathy, Terry and Barry were born, completing this family.
Mom’s siblings all in Nova Scotia, Oliver, Bill, Eileen, Kay, Rose and Charlie predeceased her and Rodney the remaining sibling passed in March 2019. Doreen was also predeceased by husband Robert in 1979; daughter Maxine in 1979; son Tom in 1986 and son Ron in 2015.
Mom’s has eleven children remaining plus many grandchildren, great grandchildren,great-great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and extended family in Nova Scotia.
Memorial Mass at 1:00 pm, Saturday October 26, 2019 at Christ the King Catholic Church, Oliver.

Sadly, Aunt Doreen was Dad’s last living sibling. Although separated by distance over the years, they remained emotionally close. Aunt Doreen arrived in heaven just in time to celebrate Dads 91 st Birthday! I would have loved to see that reunion. Dad would be grateful to those in Aunt Doreen’s family who took such good care of her. We will miss the occasional pics of her, especially when she was dressed in purple! Although far apart, thank you for always making her seem close, if only in our hearts💕🌻

Mary Doreen Stump was such a lovely devout lady, who will be missed on earth, but gloriously welcomed in heaven. I knew her when she lived in Peachland and attended Our Lady of Lourdes Parish in West Kelowna. One day we were talking and I said something about my brother having a hard time dealing with a mental disorder. She asked me his name, and some six months or so later, she approached me and asked how my brother was doing by name. That left such an impression on me, and have never forgotten that. My sincerest condolences to the family, I am sure she will be praying for all of you now, also by name! God Bless you all. Doreen Marks.

Doreen was a lady with a beautiful heart. Many times I would give her a lift seeing her walking with groceries here in Peachland. She would come into the drug store where I worked and chat. I was just thinking about her last week then I saw her obituary. My condolences to the family on her loss. When you think of Peachland you think of Doreen.

Auntie Doreen came to visit me and my children in Nelson and it was a joy to spend time with her in my home. I remember meeting her and her youngest when she came to stay with us – her brother, Bill, was my Dad. I remember their laughs and storytelling. I took my mom to her home in Peach land and remember her hospitality fondly, and how my Mom and she got along so well. You will be missed Auntie Doreen, by all who you touched.
