M. Glen Calwell
January 18, 1935 - October 22, 2016
Tribute
On Saturday October 22, 2016, (Melvin) Glen Calwell of Osoyoos passed away after a brief battle with cancer at the age of 81 years.
He is survived by his wife Teresa Calwell; Sisters: – Cora Calwell, Marg Simonetta, Joan Wootton (Doug) and his sister-in-law Darlene Calwell. His daughter Cindy (& Dave); grandson: – Jason (Emily); three great grandchildren Justin, Daniel, and Elizabeth and his son Rick; many nieces & grand nieces, nephews & grand nephews. His two cats Simba and Snuggles.
Predeceased by his brother Allen Calwell and his brother-in-law Sam Simonetta.
Glen was born at Rock Bay, BC and raised in the Lund / Powell River area. His first job was at the McMillan Bloedel Pulp Mill in Powell River, he was a sheet metal mechanic, oil burner mechanic, owned his own heating business, he was a fisherman, fishing vessel owner and a cash buyer.
Glen & his wife “retired” to Osoyoos in 1995. Teresa “paid” Howie Hebig to let Glen act as his “go for” for several years. He enjoyed assisting Dale & Anita Lehman build their house in Osoyoos. He spent several years shopping every morning with Randy Ihmie. Glen enjoyed having friends over especially for smoked salmon or smoked black cod or maybe just turkey dinner.
In lieu of flowers donations to the SPCA would be appreciated.
A special thanks to Dr. Megan Kimberly, Dr. Bellingan and to the staff at the Oliver hospital for their consideration and care in Glen's final days.
He will be missed.

Our sincerest condolences to Teresa and family. I have many good memories of Glen on and off the fishing grounds. He always had a ready smile, kind word and was a trusted friend. He was a good man.
