April 19, 1930 - February 3, 2025
Tribute
With gratitude for a life well-lived, we announce the passing of Margaret “Joan” Alaric on February 3, 2025 at the age of 94. She was a beloved mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, aunt and friend.
Joan was predeceased by her husband, Wilfred Alaric, as well as her children, Wilf Alaric Jr. and Tara Miron.
She is lovingly remembered by her children: Lana Fleming (Kevin), Patrick Alaric, Jennifer Smith, Paul Alaric, Randy Alaric, Bernie Alaric (Gina), Morgan Alaric, along with 25 grandchildren and 29 great grandchildren.
Joan’s outgoing personality and adventurous spirit led her to learn how to pilot a plane at a young age. She loved travelling, playing the guitar and singing. Her Catholic faith was at the centre of her life. She gave generously of her time, serving with the Catholic Women’s League, the charismatic community and the music ministry, where she played guitar and sang joyfully. She embraced life with an open heart and service to others.
She also shared her many talents through her work in food preparation at Oliver Hospital, St Martin’s Hospital, and Sunnybank, where she touched countless lives with her dedication.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Joan’s memory may be made to Sunnybank Retirement Centre, where she completed her remarkable life journey.
A funeral mass will be held at 11:00 am, Friday, February 14 at Christ the King Catholic Church in Oliver, BC with a reception to follow in the church lower hall.
A viewing will be held before the Mass.
