Madge Merit! What can you say about her? She had an opinion and let you know it and she never shied away from a good discussion.
They definitely broke the mould when they made her! For over 45 years she fought many battles with cancer. But lost this last one.
Underneath that beaten up exterior was a warm and caring soul that would give you not only the shirt off her back she would go find a few more sweaters, shirts and jackets too. If you were lucky enough to be part of her “inner circle” you were often blessed with her peanut butter cookies or even better yet her famous cinnamon buns or homemade bread.
She was a fighter and a trooper and we’re going to miss her but take solace in knowing that she and Dad are together once more, planting a garden and tending to the flowers. Enjoy those 4 PM happy hours! May your roses bloom year around! In lieu of flowers and a funeral please give to your local Cancer Foundation.

The McGibbon mob will be forever grateful for being a part of “Madge’s circle”. You know you have a dear friend when the phone rings one day and its Madge, she says “I was at a yard sale, at I think your great uncles.” (in her monotone slow voice) “Your Dad was running it and he said that it was at his Mothers Brothers house so that would make that man your great uncle right? And I saw a wooden trunk there with a name on it. He said it was your great great Grandmothers steamer trunk from when she came over on the boat from Scotland but no-one wanted it so I bought it cause I thought you may like it. So its here if you want it”. That trunk will be a part of this home until my name appears on this website.
Between the “3D Meats”, and the other funnies I more than likely can’t type on here, Madge will never be forgotten. Its amazing how one person can touch your life but even more so how one special person can etch their soul into your heart for life. “Madge” is a household name between us McGibbon men and as soon as any of us whispers “Madge” when we are together the laughter is non stop and deep for a lengthy amount of time.
Some describe luck as a lottery win, others by a financial score but for us…luck describes our tried, true and blue friends of which Madge hovered at the top.
May you rest in Peace Madge………Thanks…….for all you left us with……as the laughter rolls on and on.
