Tribute
On Saturday January 23, 2016, Mr. Manuel Furtado Dutra of Osoyoos passed away peacefully surrounded by family at Mariposa Gardens at the age of 85 years.
He was predeceased by his parents; three brothers; three sisters and son David.
Manuel will be fondly remembered by his beloved wife Lidia of 51 years; sons Daniel (Carey) and Nelson (Jennifer); brothers Francisco, Eduardo (Fatima), and Joao (Matilde); sister Balbina and cherished grandchildren Mariah, Makayla, Bianca, Natasha and Jayden as well as many nieces, nephews and extended family.
Manuel immigrated to Canada in 1954 from Portugal. After meeting his loving wife in Vancouver, he fell in love with the southern Okanagan and moved to Oliver where he owned and operated his family farm from 1966 – 2003. Manuel lived a full and beautiful life and will be sorrowfully missed by his many family and friends that had the pleasure of knowing him.
Prayers will be recited at 7:00 P.M. Wednesday January 27, 2016 at St. Anne’s Catholic Church. A funeral mass will be celebrated by Fr. Dave DeSouza at 1:00 P.M. Thursday January 28, 2016 at St. Anne’s Catholic Church. Interment and committal will follow at the Osoyoos Lakeview Cemetery. A reception in the church lower hall will follow the interment.
Donations are gratefully accepted for the Heart & Stroke Foundation of BC, #4 – 1551 Sutherland Avenue, Kelowna, BC, V1Y 9M9.
